With Friends in Quartzsite

We love to meet up with friends along the way and while here in Quartzsite, we have been able to do just that.

In fact, the day before we left for Quartzsite, we were able to hook up with Ron and Marta, who are friends from our Albuquerque days (1986-1988).
Ron and I played on the church softball team a couple of years.

We had been in contact with Paul and Bobbi since our time together at the Santa Fe Habitat build a few years ago.  Paul organized a group for some Disaster Relief work in Henryville, IN about a year ago and we last saw them there.

They have a place in Tehachapi, CA and are doing some traveling so we planned on meeting them here in Quartzsite.  They arrived a few hours after we did and found to an open area where their four dogs could have some running room.
We also went to lunch with them at La Mesa RV.  That is always fun and we crawled around some RVs and checked out things.

Later on in the day, long time San Bernardino friends (now from Redlands, CA) Bob and Sue came out to spend the night with us and see Quartzsite.
We all had dinner at our place and enjoyed the evening before going over to Paul and Bobbi's...
Nothing like see the star's on a clear night in the desert...
Along with a blazing campfire it was a pretty great evening!

Then yesterday, we connected with long time RV friends Steve and Karen (on the back side of the table).  They are wintering in Casa Grande AZ and they took a day trip to come over to Quartzsite.  We first met Steve and Karen in Harrisburg, PA at a Life on Wheels Conference in 2008.  They are also from Virginia but are now fulltime RVers.  Check out their blog here.
They had already arranged to meet with their friends (Bill and Kathy) and we all got together at Big Al's Pizza for lunch.

So it's been quite a time seeing old friends and meeting some new ones here.  One of the joys of the full-timing lifestyle!

Thanks for joining us here in Quartzsite on the Roadrunner Chronicles!  Still more to come.  Until next time...

  2. Did Steve try to talk you into some Pickle Ball? Amazing how many of us retired from VA and lived near each other. We were from Gainesville (next to Manassas NP).

    1. How about that? I saw a couple of President's Cups in Gainesville. And mowed greens for a while down the road from Manassas NP at the Fairfax National Golf Course.
